CPU S7-300 cho các ứng dụng có qui mô vừa và nhỏ

- Với nhiều tùy chọn dựa vào tốc độ xử lý, bộ nhớ làm việc, chức năng truyền thông như PtP, MPI,Profibus,Profinet.
- Dựa trên tốc độ xử lý và dung lượng bộ nhớ làm việc ta có thể xác định khả năng mở rộng ngõ vào ra của CPU.
- Với dòng cấp thấp như CPU312 và CPU312C thì ta có khả năng mở rộng tối đa 8 module trên 1 rail,
- Các dòng khác khả năng mở rộng lên tới 32 module dựa vào các IM360 và IM361.
- Nếu dùng ET200M để mở rộng ta có thể mở rộng tối đa 8192 ngõ vào ra.
